URGOTUL® START is a contact layer with TLC-NOSF promoting faster healing in non to low exuding chronic wounds.

URGOTUL® START can also be used in cavity wounds.

URGOTUL® START is composed of a polyester textile mesh with a complex structure:

  • in contact with the wound, the permanently open mesh pores prevent any risk of occlusion and allow exudate to drain into the secondary dressing, thereby avoiding any risk of maceration.
  • The pore size of the mesh (500 µ) prevents migration of granulation tissue through and prevents it from getting trapped in the mesh, thereby avoiding any risk of damage to granulation tissue when the dressing is removed (no bleeding or pain).
  • Continuous yarns: ensure no release of microfibers into the wound that could trigger a reaction to foreign bodies.

Indications

URGOTUL® START is indicated for debrided non to low exuding leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers. It can also be used in cavity wounds

Instructions for use

Application:

  • Clean the wound as per local protocol.
  • Dry carefully the surrounding skin.
  • Urgotul® START can be cut using sterile equipment to shape the size of the dressing to the wound.
  • Remove the protective wings.
  • Apply Urgotul® START dressing to the wound.
  • Secure the dressing in place with a suitable bandage. (K-Band/K-Lite)
  • Apply a compression bandaging over the dressing when prescribed.

Dressing changes:

Urgotul® START dressings can be left in place for up to 7 days, depending on the level of exudate and the clinical condition of the wound. A minimum of 4 to 5 weeks treatment is recommended to obtain greatest results.

 

Precautions for use

The TLC-Contact-NOSF layer of Urgotul® START may stick to latex surgical gloves. It is therefore recommended to avoid contact with this TLC-Contact-NOSF layer.
If signs of critical colonisation are present, suitable treatment is recommended prior to the use of Urgotul® START .In case of an atypical ulcer presenting induration or overgranulation, Urgotul® START should only be used after checking the absence of wound-related malignancy in order not to delay the diagnosis.
The product’s action on re-trigerring the healing process may possibly cause stinging or painful sensations on commencement of treatment with Urgotul® START . This rarely warrants suspension of treatment.
Do not re-sterilise the dressing.

Contraindications

In order not to delay any optimal teatment, UrgoCell START Contact is contraindicated in wounds which are not likely to heal such as :
Cancerous wounds
Deep fistula wounds
