Indications

UrgoCell® START Contact is indicated for the treatment of debrided low to moderately exuding leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.
Due to the non-adhesive nature of the dressing, UrgoCell® START Contact is recommended for the treatment of wounds in which the surrounding skin is damaged or fragile.

 

Intructions for use

Application:

  • Clean the wound as per local protocol.
  • Dry carefully the surrounding skin.
  • UrgoCell® START Contact can be cut using sterile equipment to shape the size of the dressing to the wound.
  • Remove the protective wings.
  • Apply the soft-adherent side of the UrgoCell® START Contact dressing to the wound.
  • Secure the dressing in place with a suitable bandage. (K-Band/K-Lite)
  • Apply a compression bandaging over the dressing when prescribed.

Dressing changes:

UrgoCell® START Contact dressings can be left in place for up to 7 days, depending on the level of exudate and the clinical condition of the wound. A minimum of 4 to 5 weeks treatment is recommended to obtain greatest results.

 

Precautions for use

The TLC-Contact-NOSF layer of UrgoCell® START Contact may stick to latex surgical gloves. It is therefore recommended to avoid contact with this TLC-Contact-NOSF layer.
If signs of critical colonisation are present, suitable treatment is recommended prior to the use of UrgoCell ®START Contact.
In case of an atypical ulcer presenting induration or overgranulation, UrgoCell® START Contact should only be used after checking the absence of wound-related malignancy in order not to delay the diagnosis.
The product’s action on re-trigerring the healing process may possibly cause stinging or painful sensations on commencement of treatment with UrgoCell® START Contact. This rarely warrants suspension of treatment.
Do not re-sterilise the dressing.
Store UrgoCell® START Contact dressings flat, away from moisture, light and heat (temperature below 25°C).

 

Contraindications

In order not to delay any optimal teatment, UrgoCell START Contact is contraindicated in wounds which are not likely to heal such as :
Cancerous wounds
Deep fistula wounds
